How Wall Street is Like Jake LaMotta

Think Jake LaMotta, former middleweight champion. The Raging Bull. You can pummel his mid-section and pound his face, but you can't knock him out. But now, Wall Street is exhausted. He sits hunched in his corner, drained by credit losses and a wounded business model. And by the look of all that blood on the canvas, the next round may not go too well. It would appear that Wall Street will continue to take a beating for at least the next year. But like LaMotta, Wall Street can take a lot of punches. Think of the pounding that Sugar Ray Robinson gives LaMotta played by Robert De Niro in the film Raging Bull. As blood streams from LaMotta’s swollen face, he grins at Sugar Ray, “You never got me down Ray….you never got me down.”
